About the role

The Application Management Lead will be responsible for overseeing the lifecycle of applications, ensuring their reliability, performance, and alignment with business objectives. This role involves managing application support teams, optimizing application performance, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Your responsibilities

  • Application Oversight: Lead the management of applications throughout their lifecycle, from deployment to decommissioning, ensuring they meet performance, reliability, and security standards.

  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a large team of application support specialists and engineers, providing guidance on best practices, technical troubleshooting, and career development.

  • Incident and Problem Management: Oversee incident and problem management processes, ensuring timely resolution of issues and minimizing impact on business operations. Implement root cause analysis and preventive measures.

  • Performance Monitoring: Implement and maintain monitoring tools and processes to ensure optimal performance and availability of applications. Proactively identify and address performance bottlenecks.

  • Change Management: Manage and coordinate application changes, including upgrades, patches, and enhancements. Ensure changes are tested, documented, and communicated effectively.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including development, infrastructure, and business units, to understand requirements, resolve issues, and drive application improvements.

  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation for application configurations, processes, and procedures. Ensure documentation is up-to-date and accessible.

  • Compliance and Security: Ensure applications comply with industry regulations, security policies, and data protection requirements. Implement and enforce security best practices.

  • Productivity Improvement: Drive initiatives to improve application management processes, tools, and practices. Utilize industry trends such as Gen AI and technologies to recommend and implement enhancements for productivity improvement. Able to drive and have a proven record of driving productivity improvements by 10% each year for 5 years.

You will have

  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in application management, with at least 5 years in a leadership or team lead role. Experience with Insurance Applications and ITIL processes is highly preferred.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in application management tools and platforms (e.g., monitoring tools, ticketing systems).

    • Strong understanding of application architectures, databases, and integration technologies.

    • Experience with insurance application landscape, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and application deployment processes.

    • Knowledge of scripting languages and automation tools is a plus.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., ITIL, PMP) are a plus.

  • Soft Skills: Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage teams and collaborate with stakeholders. Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Agile or DevOps methodologies and practices.

  • Familiarity with IT service management (ITSM) frameworks and best practices.

  • Knowledge of application performance management (APM) tools and techniques.

  • Experience in an insurance application environment and have knowledge of all insurance functions and support
