About the role
We are seeking a meticulous and proactive Software Test Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all software applications meet business and technical requirements, are free from defects, and adhere to the company's quality standards. This role involves developing and executing test plans, designing test cases with adequate coverage, and driving the company's test strategy forward.
Your responsibilities
Quality Assurance & Compliance:
Establish and track quality assurance metrics within the QC framework.
Ensure all test procedures are thoroughly documented for reusability and compliance with standards.
Identify deviations from standards and suggest modifications to ensure compliance.
Test Planning & Execution:
Understand requirements and build comprehensive test plans, including test scenarios, test cases, and test data.
Execute all types of testing documented in the test plan, including smoke tests, functional tests, non-functional tests, system tests, integration tests, and end-to-end tests.
Defect Management:
Ensure software defects are documented using a tracking system and communicated to the development team.
Lead regular defect triage meetings to discuss and prioritize high-impact defects for resolution.
Perform causal analysis of all defects, especially escaped defects, and ensure they are systematically addressed.
Test Documentation & Reporting:
Define and prepare essential documents such as Requirement Review Checklists, Requirement Traceability Matrices, and Test Scenarios.
Consolidate and analyze metrics for all test phases and perform test phase quality reviews with all impacted stakeholders.
Collaboration & Communication:
Facilitate the transition from SIT/QA to UAT, sharing test cases, test results, and defect logs with business users.
Ensure that all testing is conducted in a systematic manner, with failures identified, logged, and retested as needed.
You will have
Educational Background: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 4 to 5 years of experience in software testing, with a strong foundation in test management and defect management.
Skills
Strong analytical and logical problem-solving skills.
Experience with Agile and SDLC methodologies.
Proficiency in using testing tools such as Sauce Labs and Jira.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Attention to detail with the ability to create clear, precise reports.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Knowledge of General and Life insurance domains is an advantage.
